Flintstone Sofa chair

The Flintstone sofa chair is an experiment in timelessness, biomimicry, primordial nostalgia & wooden craftsmanship. The form represents the organic forms of stones & pebbles stacked as furniture in caves of early man. A primal yet timeless embodiment of mans need for functional spaces & personalization. The sofa chair is inspired from the primal aesthetic of the stone age as well as the famous cartoon “flintstones”. As for the craftsmanship, the design pushes the limits of traditional woodworking by creating members from five different woods. CP teak becomes the base while Ebony highlights the focus points. Mahogany & Indian oak create harmony while satin & white cedar bring in the opulence through their gold sheen. Together these woods create an earthly serenity which helps the user connect with the natural beauty all around. The wood used in this set are handpicked from the largest sawmills in India & selected for the richness in their grains. The ebony at the bottom of the legs are inspired by animal hooves. No member follows straight lines except for the internal body of drawers for smooth functioning. The chair cushion is a rough white boucle fabric resembling animal hides. The piece is a romantic novel written in wood, a love letter to the material which has seen several ages of man’s evolution. The Lime wash finish used is a 3000-year-old finishing technique which raises the grains of the wood to become prominent. A chalky stone dust aesthetic is rendered over the unit, simulating a touch of rawness felt in the heart of nature.
